Some Questions:
Here are some questions that can help define your multi-point conferencing network system and solution:
- What is the largest number of conference sites you plan to have running at one time? How many ports in the MCU?
- What is the largest number of sites planned in one conference?
- What type and how many end-points are now in use at each location? HD (High Definition) or SD (Standard Definition) or webcams?
- How many MCU's do you have now or plan in your network? Cisco, Polycom, ZTE, etc.
- How many audio only participants do you want in the same conference? . . . in audio only conferences?
- What features would you like to use during the conference? Attended, unattended, Integrated Voice Response system, music on hold, conference recording, web streaming?
- How do you plan to connect to the MCU? ISDN, PRI, PSTN and/or IP? How many sites of each?
- What is the data rate for the largest conference?
- Do you want the ability to have mixed rates from different sites in the same conference? What is the bandwidth at each site?
- How do you want to manage the MCU?
- How do you plan to support this system? Internal/Outsourced? What are the annual maintenance costs?
- What budget range do you have now and have in mind for the future?
- What's your current spending on each category of voice, video and web conferencing?
- What savings are you expecting with the new system?
- Are you interested in leasing the system? . . . . to conserve capital and retain tax credits?
- How many remote and mobile clients do you have? . . . on Skype, Google+, etc. . . . smartphones, laptops, PCs, Macs, etc.
- Are you considering cloud based services to support your MCU or as an alternative to your MCU?
